Super-junction MOSFETs are MOSFETs with dramatically lower ON-resistance and gate charge (Qg) compared with planar MOSFETs. ROHM's series of 600 V super-junction MOSFETs boast such characteristics as fast operation, low noise, and high efficiency, and are currently advancing toward a second generation. They are contributing to improved efficiency in a variety of power conversion circuits, from power supplies to PFCs and the like.

Low Noise EN Series

Conventional super-junction MOSFETs have such features as low ON-resistances and fast switching speeds, but because of their fast operation, there is the problem that noise levels are high. The EN series represents an improvement in this area. These devices combine the low-noise characteristics of planar MOSFETs and the low ON-resistance characteristics of SJ-MOSFETs. The graph below compares the noise characteristics of ROHM's EN series with the company's first-generation AN series with standard characteristics, as well as with a competitor’s equivalent product.

The EN series has lower ON-resistances while retaining the noise level of planar MOSFETs, and so serve as replacements for planar MOSFETs while alleviating conduction losses. In comparisons of A・Ron, compared with planar MOSFETs the values for the standard AN series are 65% lower, and those for the EN series are reduced by 80%.
