This series of articles, entitled “Linear Regulator and Switching Regulator Basics,” provides contents and organization mainly intended for persons who are undertaking a power supply design process. While the parts of the articles dealing with basic principles could explore the subject at greater depths, we believe that in an actual design process the pressing issue may be the question of “how to select a power supply IC and how to use it.” Basic knowledge provides the material you can draw on in making appropriate decisions. While not claiming that these articles cover all contingencies, we intended to provide a guidance which can be beneficial at the starting line of the power supply design process.
