The appeal of "Kyoto, The Student City": a message from students and the local region |
|
|
There are roughly 50 universities and 2-year colleges in Kyoto, and about 140,000 students attend those schools, accounting for about 10% of the population of the city (1.47 million). In 2003, students in Kyoto started the Kyoto Student Festival in order to convey the appeal of "Kyoto, the Student City" nationwide. It was the first such student festival to be held in Japan. From the beginning, the local region and enterprises in the area provided support and often participated in the event, which is held mainly in the Heian Jingu Shrine and Okazaki area. ROHM participated in the event as a special sponsor. |
