Enjoy a tour of the old capital on an excursion boat. |
|
|
During the Heian Period, the nobles took boat rides on the Katsura River for amusement. Here, you too can enjoy a tour of the old capital on a traditional Japanese houseboat. These excursion boats have been in operation since the beginning of the Meiji Period. In the winter there are heated houseboats in operation, and long-standing shops nearby provide lunch boxes in the Japanese Obento style, boiled tofu (bean curd), and sukiyaki, etc. so you can enjoy a variety of Japanese cuisine throughout the seasons. |
